Beatboxing is the vocal percussion of any type of music with a Drum Beat included. It is primarily concerned with the art of reproducing drum sounds using one’s voice, mouth, and nasal cavity. It can also involve singing, vocal imitation of turntable scratching, the simulation of horns, strings, other musical instruments and the replication of a vast array of sound effects.

The term beatboxing most likely refers to early drum machines which came with pre-programmed musical patterns.
